The most ancient features that are findable in our Villa, which has a simple and luxury architecture, let date back its origin to the XV century. The rooms that are situated in the subsoil of our Villa go back to this age and each one has still today a specific aim: the cellar, the vat – room, the pitcher – room, the animal – traction oil – mill, the well, the kitchen with the fire – place and the wood – burning oven. There is also an interesting and very ancient underground secret passage, which leads to our Casa da Signore, after having crossed our garden, and which gave rise to some legends of secret loves. In reality, it probably had defensive functions.

The present refined internal arrangement shows a Renaissance style with some influences from the Baroque style and it goes back to a restoration, which took place between the end of the XVI century and the beginning of the XVII century. Our Villa is well preserved: in particular our living – room with an important wash – basin and an imposing and beautiful fire – place made of engraved stone (pietra serena).

It hands on that our Villa was one of the Medicis's hunt meeting – place in Tuscany , as this area was very woody and it had a rich fauna at that time. In the next years, our Villa was the ancient Capaccis ‘s residence and then the house of the Gacis, a noble birth, as it is indicated in a book of the church of Colonnata of the year 1686.

Some documents and the coat – of – arms of stone that is possible to see on the outer wall of our Villa and that represent a hand stretched out over the fire are an evidence of the Gacis. The Alexander that was madly in love with Isabella of the Medicis, who was the daughter of the Granduke Cosmo the First and who was given in marriage to Paolo Orsini, and that retired into a Capuchin's convent not to cause her ruin was related to the Gacis. The unhappy Isabella was strangled by her husband with a rope in the Villa in Cerreto in the night of the fifteenth of July 1576 . From this tragedy, Guerrazzi drew a celebrated novel.

Like the most important Tuscan families, the Gacis also followed the fashion, which began at the Medicis's court, of the growing of the citrus fruit in big earthenware and for this reason they built a wide lemon tree glass house for the winter shelter of the plants. Very old citrus fruit plants still exist in our garden. The Gacis were the owner of the Villa until 1809.

Our family bought it some years later and today it is our house.
